The weight loss industry has tricked a lot of people into procedures and products that end up putting them on the roller coaster of elation and terror, to only find out in the end that it really wasn’t worth it and they’re not really much further ahead with their health, if not severely behind.

Of course, there are some safe, effective, and long term weight loss solutions but you won’t likely find them at the book store or at your local vitamin shop. The weight loss industry capitalizes on those that are busy, desperate, lazy, and ignorant who are happy to spend some cash on a quick fix. The latest and ugliest product on the market has done exactly that, and many are paying a deep price for it.

But let’s begin with the good…which is where most don’t go because it takes some work and perhaps a coach who won’t sacrifice the client’s safety for profits.

To lose weight, you have to consider that the extra fat you are carrying is related to a toxic burden that is being sequestered in fat and kept safe from becoming embedded in your critical organs and glands where it can do far more damage to your health. In this vein, the simplicity of losing weight is to consume food that will bind, dissolve, break down, or otherwise remove this burden safely and flush it out of your body.

This will require food that provides adequate hydration, plenty of enzymes, nutrient density, and anti-infectious material that will ensure this burden is adequately removed from your tissues and flushed away, primarily through bowel and urinary movements. Add some sweat therapy and adequate lymphatic stimulation through physical activity, and you’re on the road to safe, effective, and more permanent weight loss. A grade A example of accomplishing this comes through juicing, smoothies, salads, and soups, along with saunas and your choice of physical activity that you can do 3-5x a week.

Now, there are plenty of bad weight loss programs and products and it would take hours to discuss them all, but some of the more heavily promoted programs of the past have relied on calorie counting like Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig, but the reason they are bad is that the focus becomes on the calories, which are only one small aspect of weight loss considerations, and they distract people from the real goal of detoxing the toxic burden, so they can have the unhealthy foods they want as long as they stay within their calorie expectations. This is a classic and literal example of how they can have their cake and eat it too, but in the end, the results are poor and the focus is lost on what really creates HEALTHY and more permanent weight loss.

A slight healthier but still bad option, which takes some time to reveal itself, is the keto diet. Although there are many different versions of this diet, the core principle remains the same – get the body into ketosis using fats as the primary fuel to the order of 80% and more of your caloric intake.

Now this may seem innocent at first, but over time, two major things happen that do not equate to healthy, safe, and more permanent weight loss, and that is the fact that this diet is hard on the pancreas, liver, and gallbladder due to the sheer amount of fats that need to be broken down by enzymes and bile, ensuring those organs and glands are burned out and don’t function appropriately, which means the detox mechanism also becomes compromised, one of the key components of healthy weight loss.

In addition to that, you have to consider that to do it well you need to train yourself, at least at first, to know the fat content of your food and how much you are consuming, so weighing and calculating becomes an additional task if you want to do it well. This, and other factors, makes it unsafe and largely unsustainable and when off the plan, the weight comes back, and you’re back at square one after all your diligent work.

Now, for the ugly. This is the epitome of getting all the wrong types of results and all the physiological chaos that follows it. But really, what would you expect when the weight loss industry and pharmaceutical companies join alliances?

I’m talking about Ozempic, the horrendous weight loss drug that has people shredding their heart tissue, destroying their thyroids, contaminating their kidneys, and lambasting their liver to the point that you start to look like your skin fits your body like a loose blanket and autoimmune disease starts to kick in to create more problems than you had before. There’s simply nothing good to say about it, and the slightly less destructive version of it, GLP-1s also gets placed in this category. Your mom was right – you shouldn’t do drugs, and that includes from your legal white coat dealer.

What it really boils down to is that at some point in your life, you have to ask yourself, do I want to look healthy as much as I want to FEEL healthy? If you want the feeling, and you do the good things, you will get that AND it will be reflected in your body composition, and it won’t take much longer than many of these other ill-advised programs, and it’s much safer and more permanent.

If that’s what you TRULY want, then book a free program consult with me and we can discuss your condition and options I have to fulfill that desire. Like many who have been through my programs, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it the right way in the first place. Better late, than never.
