Eat more fruits and vegetables, exercise, get some fresh air, drink clean water, and meditate…
If only it was as easy as following that generic advice for those dealing with chronic disease.
Listen, all those things are vitally important. But as with anything in life, general advice doesn’t get you very far, especially when you are in a hole with your health.
Back in 2005, when I had 13 chronic disease conditions rooted in autoimmune and digestive issues, the advice of simply eating more fruits and vegetables, exercising, getting fresh air, drinking clean water, and meditating would have been pandering my health at best.
What kinds of fruits and vegetables were best for my condition, which made it worse, and how to prepare them were three things that made the difference between me LIVING with a chronic disease for the rest of my life, and BEATING it.
As for exercise, it was the LAST thing that benefitted me. Sure, doing some walking was fine, but any type of intense exercise only made things a lot worse. And exercise does very little to solve the reason most people are sick – infections and malnourishment.
Fresh air, is never a bad thing, but where do you get that these days? Our environment, indoor and outdoor, has become heavily polluted and plants are often not enough.
Clean water is also tricky. It certainly doesn’t come out of most taps, and half the water filtration systems don’t do an effective job. And some of those that do, leave the water “dead”.
Meditation, when done correctly, is very helpful. However, I would estimate that 95% of people are simply sitting in a quiet room, listening to their thoughts about what happened yesterday, what they need to do today, and how terrible they feel. This type of meditation is going to generate very little results.
And what about supplementation? Detox? Hormone balancing? The list goes on…
So as pure as your intentions are, and as strong willed you are to become well, if you don’t have the DETAILS and STRUCTURE to really become well, you’ll be managing a health condition for the rest of your life.
Just like I would have been, if I didn’t spend 3500 hours researching, and 10 years experimenting, to discover the granular details that need to be incorporated in order to successfully overcome my conditions.
These kinds of details are not difficult to integrate into your life. But they do need to be known, and structured, to beat chronic disease conditions.
Putting spinach into your smoothie? Likely a bad idea. Gone full blown keto? Likely a terrible move. Drinking organic coffee? Not helping. Drinking 8-12 glasses of water a day? Not usually the best way to get hydrated.
DETAILS. That’s what creates the transition from a compromised body, to a healthy and thriving one.
If you have been dealing with autoimmune or digestive issues, these details will MAKE the difference between eradicating disease and simply managing it.
