You can scour the internet, consult a doctor, or visit a natural health professional, but none of these avenues on their own will set you up to be healthy in a world that is set up to do the opposite. So how does one become healthy when all the experts can’t do it for them?

You become healthy by acquiring organized knowledge that has been proven to create healthy humans long term, then you put that knowledge into action on a consistent basis.

Randomly piecing together information on the internet, going to a medical doctor, and seeing a naturopath will not provide the comprehensive and organized approach you require (but it may be a piece of it), which is why they generally can’t help you become and STAY healthy. Your level of health is determined by your knowledge and daily habits, both which can’t be fully imparted by any of the typical methods.

In other words, you become healthy through your own empowerment and dedication to the lifestyle, otherwise the landmines of life are going to continually blow you up until you are sick, tired, overweight, and living off caffeine to make it through the day.

That’s no way to live, so here’s how you become healthy primarily under your own guidance so you can turn the odds heavily in your favour.

Take control of your mind

Whether you want to believe it or not, your mind has been programmed since birth. It starts with the first six years of your life, when you are the most impressionable, and this hardwired state is further tampered with by watching mainstream media (news channels, TV shows, and movies) that generally do nothing to facilitate a healthy and independently thinking brain.

In addition to this, a fluoridated water system, poisoned food supply, and toxic procedures, drugs, and surgeries, have crippled the physical function of the brain and rendered it unable to think outside the matrix we call society. This keeps a person entangled in the web of lies that have been perpetrated as long as they can remember, and a victim to the industries that prey on them.

In order to take back the powerful function of your brain, you must first unplug from any media that doesn’t uplift you and encourage you to think in a positive, enlightening, and loving way. Replace that media with anything that quiets the mind, explores mental expansion, and makes you happier and healthier. Time in nature, personal development books, meditation, and quality time with loved ones could be great substitutes.

Secondly, you need to get back the physical function of your brain. This may require a water filtration system, herbs that protect the brain against fluoride poisoning, heavy metal removal, nutritional balancing, and considering natural ways to overcome brain related diseases, instead of medication.

Don’t fall for fad diets

There is a very simple rule that applies to virtually anything in this world, including diets. That is, go the opposite way of the hottest (marketing) fad. The truth is, the path to becoming truly healthy doesn’t appear near as sexy as the latest marketing hype, and this is why most people never obtain it. Anyone who has obtained true health knows the fix is not quick, but it is definitely more permanent when it’s part of a sustainable lifestyle.

If your goal is to be as healthy as possible, you must eliminate, or at least minimize, your intake of processed, commercially grown food. Emphasize a whole food diet rich in organic fruits and vegetables, whole grains (with minimal or no gluten content), clean animal based protein (if desired), nuts, seeds, herbs, spices, healthy oils, and pure water. In addition, make sure to:

  • Eat the freshest, cleanest, & most local whole foods available.

  • Eat food as raw as possible, cooking minimally when required (for those with severe digestive issues), to leave the enzymes, phytonutrients, prebiotics, vitamins, and minerals intact.

  • Source highly potent and nutrient dense foods that you can put in your body on a daily basis. As a general rule, choose 70% produce (70% as vegetables) & the rest in grains, nuts/seeds, & protein.

An example of a sustainable and healthy eating plan that follows these general guidelines is the Flexitarian Diet, and you can read more about that here.

SUPERHERO FILES: “I joined the THRIVE Academy because my normal approach to my health which had worked so well for me for years stopped being as effective as I wanted it to be. Since I started THRIVE my weight is down 10lbs with no fluctuations up and down like I used to, I have energy and brain capacity for a massive increased in work demand (I own two businesses), I am happiest I’ve been in over a year, I knew confidently which supplements to reach for to give that extra support I needed when I was planning my wedding and things got stressful, I have created some amazing healthy habits that have stayed permanent, I have no cravings for sugar (a miracle!), I eliminated a large skin tag I have had for the last 2 years, my skin is glowing and has never stopped, and my hormones and thyroid have balanced out. I am so glad I made the investment! Derek is a wealth of information and maybe the best source of supplement recommendations I’ve ever come across. His expertise is invaluable! – Courtney C., Culver City, CA

Reduce your toxic load

If you haven’t heard by now (because you have been living on another planet), the amount of toxins in today’s environment, food chain, water, and personal care products is unprecedented. One simply does not avoid these toxic burdens by whistling their way through it, but by awareness and concerted action steps to remove or neutralize their accumulating impact.

Get the Aires Shield Extreme for EMF protection.

The easiest way to start is to purify your immediate environment. Get an air purifier, use essential oils, buy some plants, avoid toxic cleaners, and neutralize EMFs. Indoor pollution has become as dangerous if not moreso then the outdoor environment (generally speaking) due to a concentration of contaminants that are biological, chemical, and electrical in nature. Remove or mitigate these threats, and you’ll find your health vastly improves.

If you haven’t figured it out already, choosing whole organic foods or at least those that are not treated with pesticides, is a move in the right direction. This will make sure you get an abundance of synergistic vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and more along with natural hydration.

As mentioned earlier, a water filtration system that will render clean, well mineralized water is optimal. Fluoride removal is of the utmost importance (search your municipal water website for details on what is in your water) and there are a few systems that provide this option, like the Big Berkey. Even better, see if there is a natural spring near you and get the best water as nature intended. You can use findaspring.com to help you out.

Personal care products have been penetrating people’s skin with poisonous chemicals for decades now, and whether it is lotions, make up, toothpaste, shampoo, or the hundreds of other products, they all have an accumulating effect that disrupts the normal function of hormones and the liver. The general recommendation is to use completely natural versions of these products, and there are many good companies that do this including this outstanding personal care product provider.

In addition to reducing the incoming toxic load, one should consider how they can cleanse their body regularly and do deeper detoxes on at least an annual basis. Eating a whole foods diet focused on fruits and veggies will accomplish cleansing on a regular basis, but supplementation may be required to remove more embedded issues like heavy metals and even gallstones.

Take care of your digestion and immunity

Not so long ago, people never thought food had any significant effect on the body, so you could eat whatever you wanted as it made no difference to your health or appearance. Then, the commonly used phrase “you are what you eat” became popular and was a much better indication of the effect food has on our bodies. However, I’d take this even a step further and say that “you are not so much what you eat, as you are what you digest”.

To take care of your digestion, the focus needs to be on whole foods that are rich in vitamins, minerals, enzymes, probiotics, and prebiotics that are highly hydrating and generally lower in sugar. For those already in digestive distress, this is very important as well as avoiding foods that are high in oxalates, lectins, or anti-nutrients until the digestive issue is solved. Focusing on appropriate supplementation like aloe vera, chlorella, enzymes, and HCL will help accelerate the healing. Once your digestion is assimilating nutrients appropriately and working efficiently, you can rest knowing that the healthy food you are eating is actually feeding the areas of the body that  need it to function appropriately.

Once you get your digestion in check, immunity mostly takes care of itself due to the fact that up to 80% of it is within your digestive system. You can maximize it even further by taking medicinal mushrooms, consuming copious amount of vitamin C, getting your vitamin D, ensuring you have the proper sleep, and being grounded on a daily basis (physically and mentally).

SUPERHERO FILES: I was experiencing very chronic GI issues that were severely impacting my life (both physically and emotionally). I had been seeing a variety of doctors with no answers or ability to help my symptoms.  Enter the THRIVE Academy and my life was immeasurably changed for the better.  After two months on his program and learning how to REALLY eat for my health, I am a completely different person.  Not only did I see impacts to my energy (through the roof), my skin, hair and nails (so much healthier), my GI issues have almost all subsided and I feel like I have my life back again (priceless). This is a game changer.  For anyone suffering with any health woes, Derek is your guy.  His plans are informative, supportive and it’s something you can maintain after the 8 weeks. Thanks Derek – you rock! – Kristin S., Calgary, AB

Break a sweat regularly

Opening up pathways for toxins to be regularly removed is a great idea, and this is why breaking a sweat is rarely a bad idea. This can be accomplished a few different ways, but some of the most notable are intense exercise, sauna or steam room, or hot baths. Depending on your level of activity and access to these resources, you will need to determine which one will work best for you but they are all viable methods to excrete toxins through your skin.

Tap into a support group and mentor

Make no bones about it, if you want to be better at anything, you will require some kind of mentor or support group to make it happen. These individuals will have presumably already paved the way to a healthier life and can provide all the necessary information and support to make sure you can do the same. Without these individuals, results can be sketchy, short-lived, and even non-existent. Anyone who has become healthy has tapped into this type of expertise in some way for extended periods of time, until they were able to largely navigate the perils of life on their own.

SUPERHERO FILES: Over the last 10+ years I have consulted with and spent thousands of dollars on doctors and specialist seeking help with numerous health issues such as weight gain and weight loss resistance, digestive issues, GERD, acid reflux, heartburn, pancreatitis, rosacea, skin itching, fatigue, migraines and all over body pain among other issues. I never received help that resulted in any level of healing. After a short period of time on the THRIVE Academy, my heartburn, acid reflux and GERD were all gone and I was able to eliminate the 4 daily medications I was taking for the issue. Not long after that, my rosacea cleared up and today I have clear, normal skin. Derek has also been able to help me significantly reduce pancreas attacks, and has given me natural protocols to over come UTI’s, migraines, and oral health issues. I am so grateful for the many positive results I’ve experienced so far. Thanks Derek! – Jadine K.. Jacksonville, TN

This is why going to most health professionals isn’t the optimal answer. They don’t have the time or forum to teach you all the necessities to live a healthy life, especially when the world is effectively set up to make you sick. A coach is your best bet to get you through the difficult spots and show you how you can navigate the health word effectively. Then you can possibly pay it forward by sharing your expertise with those that need it and want it.

This is exactly why the THRIVE Academy works so well, and has helped eliminate over 20 different disease conditions over the last few years. It puts all the odds in your favour to live out your days as healthy and happy as possible. Check out all the details, and you’ll find you’re one step away from being the healthiest version of yourself, despite the disease promoting infrastructure currently in place.
