Feeling sluggish, foggy, anxious, arthritic, or unable to lose weight? Chances are, there are a few things going wrong in your body, one of them being a compromised thyroid gland.

Unfortunately, over our lifetimes we have unwittingly assaulted our thyroid, and continue to do the same today. This makes recovery from a thyroid issue nearly impossible, and to top it off most people are put on prescriptions that do very little to address the problem, and only make matters worse long term for their health.

If you want any hope to get over the symptoms related to a thyroid disorder, you must at least start by removing or mitigating these 5 elements from your lifestyle.

1. Radiation/EMF’s

There ais no shortage of exposure points when it comes to harmful radiation and non-native EMFs, and the thyroid gland tends to take a beating. Whether it is CT scans, x-rays, cancer treatments, 5G, power lines, computers, big screen TVs, WiFi routers, airports, cell phones, vehicles, appliances, and even fluorescent lighting, ALL of them antagonize the thyroid and they need to be mitigated as efficiently as possible in hopes of any recovery.

Even low levels of EMF’s can slow thyroid function, and a study in the Journal of Experimental Biology shows that EMF exposure impacts both the structure and function of the thyroid. As an example, animals exposed to cell phone radiation produce lower levels of thyroid hormone, a precursor to hypothyroidism.

The good news is there are plenty of grounding technology that can be used in a wide variety of applications, and of course, there are good ole fashioned and free choices as well like putting your bare feet on uncontaminated soil, grass, sand, or other natural earth material.

But make no bones about it, without an organized plan against radiation and EMFs for your situation, your thyroid will struggle to recuperate.

2. Heavy Metals

There are many heavy metals we have been forced to deal with, and that includes mercury, aluminum, cadmium, arsenic, and lead. There has been a strong association between high levels of toxic metals and the autoimmune thyroid diseases Hashimoto’s and Graves Disease, due to evidence that mercury accumulates in the thyroid gland.

Therefore, if you have autoimmune thyroid disease, it is quite probable you have higher levels of mercury in your body than the average person.

Common exposure points for mercury accumulation includes environmental pollution, dental amalgams (metal fillings), seafood, and all types of vaccines (the flu shot being the biggest offender).

Removal of these heavy metals is fraught with dangers without a holistic perspective, and simply taking the fillings out of your mouth is not the answer albeit an improvement, as those metals will have leeched from your teeth into other delicate tissues, like the thyroid. You have to consider the binding and dissolving of these dangerous chemicals, and supporting your detoxification infrastructure to handle the load, primarily your liver and kidneys. There’s safe ways to do this, and dangerous ways, and the latter will make you wish you never tried without thinking it through first.

3. Fluoride

Fluoride was universally placed in water supplies and dental cleaning products to help prevent tooth decay. However, what few people know is that fluoride has also been prescribed as a drug to reduce the activity of the thyroid gland. Up through the 1950’s, doctors in Europe and South America prescribed fluoride to lower function in patients with over active thyroids (hyperthyroidism).

Doctors selected fluoride as a thyroid suppressant based on studies linking thyroid to goitre, and as expected, fluoride therapy did reduce thyroid activity in treated patients. According to clinical research the amount required was very low – just 2 to 5 mg per day for several months. This is well within the range individuals are expected to receive in fluoridated communities on a regular basis, which is 1.6 to 6.6 mg/day.

If you haven’t already, get a water filtration system that removes fluoride if your municipality adds it, and forego dental treatments and products that allow fluoride as part of the product or procedure.

4. Bromines

A common endocrine disruptor, bromide competes for the same receptors that are used in the thyroid gland to capture iodine. This inhibits thyroid hormone production and results in a low thyroid state. Also, when you absorb bromine it displaces iodine, and this can lead to iodine deficiencies in the thyroid gland that can lead to hypothyroidism.

Bromine can be found in pesticides, soft drinks, plastics, medications, fire retardants, and baked goods and flours. They don’t need to be listed on the label, and most people consume them from commercial breads and baked goods.

5. Stress

Due to the intimacy of the relationship between the adrenals and thyroid, when the adrenals become depleted due to inability to manage stress, the thyroid is ultimately affected. Those of us who are always under chronic stress can expect increased adrenaline and cortisol levels, and elevated cortisol levels have a negative impact on thyroid function.

There are many ways to reduce stress, like using adaptogenic herbs like medicinal mushrooms, calming essential oils, soothing magnesium baths, deep meditation, and creating boundaries around the relationships that are often the source of it, or cutting ties altogether.

Of course, there are also a number of other factors that affect the thyroid, most notably chemicals in body care and household products, medications, unfermented soy, and iodine deficiencies, and the permutations are seemingly endless and hard to get to the bottom of without outside help from a holistic perspective. Taking more iodine is likely not the cure, and can also create issues when used inappropriately.

If you want to discuss your thyroid condition, assess the issue, and potentially get an organized plan to vastly improve you condition, set up a program consult and rapid assessment with me and we can get all that done in a fraction of the time and without the diagnostic insults from conventional medicine.
