Getting healthy can sometimes be a difficult thing to do. After all, you’ve likely never been taught how to stay truly healthy and when we live in a world filled with toxins, a proactive approach is the only way to have a chance. However, some of you are living what seems to be a pristine life, and you are still not as healthy as you want to be. Why is that? Turns out, there are several reasons.

Still eating flour products

It seems one of the toughest things to get out of your life once you have decided to start getting healthy is flour. In some cases, you may not even think that it matters, provided it is gluten free.

But you’d be wrong.

If you are still eating flour products on a daily basis, it will become very difficult to get as healthy as you want to be. This goes for any kind of non-glutenous flour, and even the ones that have only been gently refined. So the healthy cookies, bread, bagels, wraps, and pizza crusts you have been making with alternative flours may be healthier than their highly refined glutenous counterparts, but they are still flour.

This is an issue for anyone who has had any kind of health problem previously (or are about to), because the mass majority of flour is devoid of the two key nutrients that are required for a healthy digestive system, and therefore, a healthy body. These two nutrients are probiotics and enzymes. The only flour that would be an exception is properly made sourdough, which naturally retains more probiotics and enzymatic content. However, it is still not a high quality source, which most people require consistently in order to be as healthy as they want to be.

To be as healthy as you want to be, avoiding flour products is a must, at least for an extended period of time.

Still eating too much sugar

Next on deck is sugar, which is the evil twin sister to flour. It is difficult to find any food products that don’t contain sugar, and this is at the root of the health problems of people across North America.

Aside from upgrading their flour, most people do the same with their sugar to start getting as healthy as they want to be. Even though upgrading from white refined sugar to a more wholesome form is a positive action, it won’t be enough to get truly healthy as that requires the elimination of all sugars for an extended period of time, which is extremely difficult for most people to do without some guidance.

So perhaps you have upgraded to cane, coconut, or brown sugar, but what you don’t realize is that ALL of these sugars feed an overgrowth of a fungus (Candida), which makes it extremely difficult to get the healthy bacteria in your gut back into balance. This imbalance will always encourage your health problems to stick around. This even goes for high sugar fruits, like pineapples, oranges, grapes, pears, and many more.

If you have a Candida infection, you will never be as healthy as you want to be as long as you continue to regularly consume sugar, even moderately (3-5 times a week). However, after an appropriate elimination period, you may be able to enjoy it in moderation at a later time.

Not eating near enough of the right vegetables

Your mother was right. You need to eat more vegetables. Although this seems to be the most difficult task for people looking to get healthy, it is the most beneficial in terms of what you put in your mouth. Consistently consuming the most powerful types of vegetables will always yield positive results for your health. They provide an abundance of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and probiotics, and are generally very low in sugar (so they don’t aggressively feed that lingering Candida problem).

Until you eat a wide variety of health promoting vegetables, and at least 5 servings on a daily basis, you will never be as healthy as you want to be. Figure out how to work them in through a variety of methods to keep them exciting and flavourful.

Still consuming alcohol

OK, so you are eating like a champion throughout the week, but you still enjoy a glass of wine (or 3) on some weekdays and weekends to relieve the stress of a difficult day or week. This will certainly keep any lingering health challenges in your body.

There is plenty of news circulating about the health benefits of enjoying a glass of wine or beer on a daily basis, but what that doesn’t take into account is the population is overwhelmingly dealing with digestive problems that alcohol only exacerbates. The sugar, grains, and yeast are the ingredients that are the primary digestive disturbers, and if you suffer from a bacterial imbalance (which is estimated that at least 80% of people do), this will provide a consistent setback that will make your quest for better health a very difficult one.

Alcohol can be consumed in moderation (3-5 drinks per week) once your digestive system is set, but not before if you want to get rid of your nagging health problems.

You have complicated body debt

So you have done everything right. You eat pristinely, avoid flours, don’t do sugar, eat plenty of vegetables, and avoid alcohol like the plague, but you still don’t have the health you desire. What’s up with that?

Body debt.

Everyone has some level of body debt, and for some of us, it came at a very early age and continued on throughout our life. These toxins are lingering in our digestive system, our fat, organs, muscles, and tissues.

The reason you haven’t got rid of some of them is because it often requires a very specific combination of food, herbs, supplements, and other lifestyle factors and you have yet to figure it out. Also, some of this body debt takes a long time to eliminate. Things like heavy metals and Candida often don’t go away easily, and it requires a more sophisticated approach to banish them from your body, hopefully for good.

If you don’t recognize this body debt from chronic symptoms that you endure regularly (which can be as subtle as sinusitis), then it will unfortunately plague your health for the rest of your life.

If you have complicated body debt, you will likely require more sophisticated assistance from someone who can provide you with the specific advice and motivation to get rid of your complicated body debt once and for all.

You are experiencing too much stress

Even when you do everything right, chronic underlying stress has the ability to break your body down in a way that is misunderstood by most health professionals. It creates an acidic environment, screws with your hormones, and negatively affects your faith and outlook on life.

As long as you have chronic underlying stress (anxious, worried, rarely smile or laugh, feel tense), you will never be as healthy as you want to be. A healthy mind is an integral part to a healthy body, and you need to get both straight in order to get the health you ultimately deserve.

You have no real mentor

To effectively achieve a certain level of success, a mentor is undeniably required. Not only do they provide expertise and motivation you likely don’t have, they provide a different perspective, which is often required when you have been in a rut trying to change your health for several years, or even decades.

Mentors are simply people who has made all the mistakes, done the research, and applied it in a way that generates results. They have stepped on the landmines, and are wiling to show you how to avoid them. Since they understand your pain and frustration (because they have been there), they can communicate in a way that you appreciate, and in a way that helps you understand what is going on and what to do to get the results you desire.

Check out this amazing story and advice, if you require some motivation.

These are just some of the main reasons why you can’t seem to get to the level of health you want, despite feeling that you have done everything right. There are many other nutritional, environmental, and mental factors that trip people up, and these are often things they NEVER considered.
