- Tend to be a “night person”

Natural remedies for adrenal fatigue
Healing your adrenals is best accomplished with a multi-faceted approach in order to support all the areas that affect adrenal function. Since normalizing adrenal function can take several months to years to replenish from an exhausted state, using as many remedies a possible is prudent so you can do it in as little time as possible.
Your first and most important task is to get into a proper sleep cycle. According to the CDC, one in three adults is not getting enough sleep and this disrupts the adrenals and their function as an internal clock which keeps physiological and metabolic rhythms in sync. If you continue to ignore this sleep debt your ability to make good choices during the day will then be compromised, leading you to poor food and beverage choices during the day which will further exacerbate your sleep debt.
To combat sleep deprivation, consider the following advice:
- Create a routine of “gearing down” at least 30 minutes before bed that promotes relaxation. This could include a calming tea, warm bath, essential oils, and a “dreamy” book. Avoid all electronics during this ritual.
- Take any food or supplements that can promote calm and increase melatonin production, like magnesium, passion flower, and fermented vegetables or beverages (1 to 2 ounces).
- Be in bed by no later than 11 pm and make sure to allocate at least 8 hours before you need to wake up. Adjust your bedtime accordingly.

Another vitally important habit for healing the adrenals is meditation. Once considered a habit for hippies, the mainstream has recently discovered its benefits to help alleviate the mental stress we endure on a day-to-day basis. Since much of this stress is forced onto us by our own mind, the act of meditation is a simple way to retrain our mind to think in a way the results in less internal and external conflicts. Our fight or flight reaction (fuelled by the adrenals) is then tempered and creates less wear and tear on our precious adrenals.
