There are many arguments for and against supplements when it comes to reversing disease and maintaining optimal health. Two major theories both have validity.

One theory states that we only require things like good food, water, and sunshine, in order to be healthy. This certainly makes sense in that these are all things that have been provided by the planet, and should be enough to live a life of happiness and abundance.

Another theory states that we require supplementation because of nutrient deficiencies caused by soil degradation, processing, long distance shipping (reducing freshness), and cooking. This certainly makes sense as all of these common factors directly impact our ability to nourish our bodies appropriately.

In my own health journey of overcoming 13 chronic disease conditions rooted in digestive and autoimmune issues, supplementation was a key factor for me being able to pull it off. I may have been able to do it through food, but it would have taken much longer and much more effort, in what was already a Herculean task.

I would preface the answer to this common question of requiring supplements, by saying that NEVER have we lived in a world where the odds are so stacked against good health. The food chain is toxic and nutrient deficient, the air is polluted, our water is tainted, our personal care products are bastardized, we are experiencing chronic stress, and our DNA is being warped and downgraded with each passing generation.

This “new” world requires a new approach. One which allows us to offset these health compromising factors, in a more powerful and expedient way.

This is where supplements can answer the bell.

With the right type of supplement, solid source, right dosage, and a long enough period of time, the concentrated format of nutrients can start to excavate embedded toxicities that food may not be able to reach, and fill in deficiencies that may be incredibly difficult to resolve through food alone.

Now, food is always the foundation. You can’t out supplement a bad diet, or lifestyle choices. However, when you combine a strong nutritional plan that is designed to eliminate disease, with great supplement choices and appropriate dosages (rarely what’s listed on the bottle), “miracles” start to happen.
